To Steep as a Tea

(Measured Batch Method)

Goal: Prepare a 4-day supply of herbal tea with an exact dosage in a format your pet can consume easily, using the powdered blend rather than discarding it.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

    1. Determine your pet’s total 4-day dose(see chart below).
    2. Add the full 4-day dose to 1¼ cups (10 oz) of filtered waterin a small saucepan.
    3. This accounts for evaporation loss of ~2 ozduring simmering.
    4. Heat to 140–160°F (60–71°C)and simmer gently for 10 minutes*
    5. This is ideal for extracting most active compounds without degrading volatile or delicate herbs.
    6. Remove from heat and cool completely.
    7. Storein a sealed glass container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
    8. Shake well before each use. Do not strain—the powdered herbs should be consumed as well as the liquid, not strained off.

*Some herbs lose potency when heated above ~140°F (60°C) due to the breakdown of volatile oilsenzymes, or heat-sensitive phytochemicals. This is especially relevant when making teas, decoctions, or cooked preparations for pets or people.

Here is a list of Solutions Herbal Blends that are known to be heat-sensitive:

We suggest that you do not heat the following blends:

  • Solutions BIOME,
  • Solutions I Heart You,
  • Solutions Immune,
  • Solutions Potty Mouth unless you mix it with Solutions Milk or Jiggles
  • Solutions Fermented Cod Liver Oil (FCLO)

We suggest that these blends remain at lower temperatures:

  • Solutions Chill Out,
  • Solutions Parasite Free
  • Solutions Drip Stop
  • Solutions Yeast & Fungal
  • Solutions Turmeric/Ginger
  • Solutions Milk Thistle
  • Solutions Restore

These blends have 1-2 herbs that are heat sensitive but overall the product can be heated with only minor damage:

  •  Solutions Inflammax, Solutions AllerGEEZ

The following blends can be heated:

Solutions Heavy Metal

Solutions Endocrine

Solutions Goldenseal

The following blends do not need to be heated to become pudding-like – you can just soak them:

Solutions Chia Seeds

Solutions Regulator

We suggest heating these <115°F for shorter times, or simply blending with Solutions milk or Jiggles rather than heating at all.

Evaporation Note:

  • Starting with 10 oz will yield approximately 8 oz of finished tea, after gentle simmering for 10 minutes uncovered.

You may pre-divide the final tea into daily portionsusing a measuring syringe, mini mason jars, or labeled dropper bottles.

If Your Pet Cannot Tolerate the Liquid Volume:

You can mix their daily portion of tea:

    • Into food
    • Into Solutions Fish Jiggles, Solutions Beef Jiggles, Solutions Pork Jiggles, Solutions Chicken Jiggles, Solutions TEXsauce (general favorite for picky eaters), Solutions GOATnog (sweetest tasting blend), Solutions Better Butter Tea, Solutions Tummy Butter Kefir Tea (most tart), or Solutions Sheep Milk (tastes the most like cow milk)
    • With Solutions Chia Seeds to create a pudding (see below)
    • Into a stuffable toy or Mine Platter with or without additional ingredients
    • Make it into ice cubes. Freezing often reduces the smell and taste of herbs.
    • Provide it as a dried herb instead of as a tea
  • For pets under 20 lbs or picky pets: You can use less water(e.g., ½ cup for 4 days) to make a concentrated teato reduce the volume that the pet must consume each day. Just ensure you match the total powder dose, and divide the final yield into four equal daily servings.
  • For pets over 80 lbs or picky pets: You can use more water(e.g., 2 cups+ for 4 days) to make a less concentrated teato reduce the concentration and flavor. Just ensure you match the total powder dose, and divide the final yield into four equal daily servings.
